ABC national news tonight had a story on a big landslide in Laguna Beach today. I recall that Ed Keller said that many of the landslides after an extremely wet winter in Santa Barbara occurred well after the rains...this may have been 1968........it is the level of the water table that weakens the ground.....it may take a while in some cases for the increased pore pressure to weaken slip planes.....
