Re: Feeling "Earthquakey" |
I just looked it up, indeed the quake was clocked at lasting a minute. Very interesting info. Its so funny living in LA, everyone is so blaze (sp?) about the subject. I know a lot of them that lived through the 71 quake. But would just sound funny to randomly bring it up and ask them. Unlike us, they don't really care or remember. What fascinates me is that from the 1800s to 1971 there were NEVER any thrust events in the San Fernando Valley. Then in the span of 25 years there were two of them. Coincidence? Or are there a line of thrust segments in the Valley there that at all snap in close in time clusters because of the San Andreas big bend pull and then go to sleep again for the next 10,000 years. I always wonder will we see another Northridge size quake again in the next 20 years? Will they even start to go in 2-4 year intervals in that specific area? Or like I said, maybe 94 and 71 were TOTALLY coincidental and that area will be quiet for centuries on. Who knows, but its interesting stuff on how LA forgets so quickly after these types of events. Your feelings Cathryn are interesting too. I'm sure I would have been freaked out and looking at you like you were from another planet, no offense but it is very paranormal. But I probably would have been watching you like a hawk from that time on. Thanks again for sharing.
