This is a good article but does not answer my original question. In the first article that you posted it mention that thousands of people in the greater LA area could be killed by a large event on the San Andreas. My question was, we've already had several large events in that region the last 15 years and LA has come through fine with there being no more than one or 2 fatalities in all of Socal-why would the article suggest differently for a 7+ quake on the San ANdreas? You then posted an article that talks about the original prediction for the 6.4 quake in the desert by labor day. So my question again is this, after Landers, Big Bear and Hector Mine, LA came through fine. Why would a 7.5 event on the San Andreas in the same area as Landers be any different and possibly kill thousands in the LA area?
