Re: Not from what I am seeing - Ah Come On |
Hi EQF, Have you ever known Shan to predict an earthquake for a site specific location, within 65kms? No. They are usually so broad they may be 100's of miles from his predicted locations, so how would politics be involved in that? If you cannot get a target within 100 miles at least it really has no value at all. If this involves a heavily populated area you cannot possibly evacuate those people and what if you're wrong and they leave and it turns out the quake happens where they go? Or if they go and the quake doesn't happen anywhere, what kind of consequences will arise? This is when it gets costly and its best not to go there. Evacuation hopefully is the last thing that should ever occur in the US. More people could get killed or injured in the process than the earthquake process doing its thing. I say for folks who live in places where buildings collapse, give them a whistle and for the rest, teach them earthquake safety. There really isn't much else you can do. Sometimes we have to take a dose of reality. More people die from cancer, car accidents and street violence than earthquakes in any given year. Car accidents can be greatly reduced if people followed the law and paid attention. Street violence can be reduced, bit it is costly. And for cancer, they recently released a report that women living in the County of Marin, have more cases of cancer because they drink two or more drinks per day. Weird huh? I guess they should give up drinking. One day a major earthquake is going to happen very close to San Francisco or very close to downtown LA. You cannot evacuate these areas, but if people knew what they should be doing, the loss of life and injuries would be greatly reduced. As things are today, an earthquake prediction for a high magnitude earthquake to the public would be the worst thing that could happen. They are not ready for it and it would be really scary to think of what people might do.
