We've already had a drill on a Bay Area tsunami after the Good Friday 1964 quake. People were warned to stay away from the beaches near San Francisco and 10,000 showed up looking for action.

Meanwhile the water retreated from the Bay and over in San Rafael at the Loch Lomond Yacht Harbor as the water went out, the boats there went down and when the water came back, the boats got stuck under the docks. Some were total losses, but many suffered heavy damage.

Thus, I guess it may not be a good idea to tell people around here one is coming, unless it is a really big one, or they'll throw a party.
