Two earthquakes of M>4 hit in the regions of central California and off the northern Coast today. The event in Central California occurred near Hollister and with preliminary magnitude M 4.3 is the strongest within 100 km of that epicenter since May 14, 2002 when a Ml 5.1 occurred north of Hollister andis also the strongest in the region of Central California since the May earthquake. The earthquake off the Coast of Northern California had preliminary
magnitude of M 4.4 and was the strongest in that region since June 16, 2002 when an M 5.3 was located east of today's epicenter. These two events represent the strongest activity in the region of northern and central California in more than a year.
