Ear tones and earthquake forecasts |
In the event that any people who are sending their ear tone data to the EarthWaves list are wondering if their data are being used for anything I can provide one answer. What I am attempting to do with my personal forecasting program is match warning signal data with similar data for past earthquakes. And, as the following report explains, one of the steps in that process involves identifying certain types of patterns in earthquake and signal data: Forecasting Earthquakes By Pattern Recognition My personal data base contains some 2000 records of warning signals and earthquakes going back a number of years. Unfortunately, at times I may have just one current warning signal data point to work with, or perhaps just a few. And pattern recognition cannot be done with a single data point. What I am presently doing is checking those ear tones to see if they might be helpful with that pattern recognition process. The first attempt at that was with an ear tone listed here not too long ago. http://www.earthwaves.org/wwwboard/messages/11504.html That ear tone plus two of the warning signals in my own list in my opinion clearly pointed to an approaching earthquake in the Peru area. And a destructive earthquake occurred on December 4 right where I expected one might. The latest effort has involved the use of a number of warning signals from my own list plus 5 entries from the EarthWaves Ear Tones List to check for a possible earthquake in the northern part of South America. The other ear tone listings were either from too long ago, or they did not have an AM or PM time attached to them. And my forecasting program relies on the times that signals are detected. That expected earthquake could occur somewhere else. Whenever and wherever it does occur, if I can clearly identify it then I am planning to post another note to this EarthWaves board with some comments regarding whether or not the ear tones turned out to be helpful. These are my own opinions.
