Lowell have been trying to get more info on this area and as Caniw said "USGS" aint saying much did find out that Golden sent down a team to set up seismos and meters, very big rush project. As near as I can run it down, the active area is at or near Saruche Canyon, about 8mi SW of Trinidad. This was an old coal mining area but not sure if Cokedale is close. this area was served by TRINIDAD GAS&ELECTRIC CO RR, seems main products were coke and timber. The more likely spot is Long Caynon which was served by Colo & Wyo RR a very remote area, Coal and coke went thru Trinidad to Pueblo to CF&I Steel the mines were shut down in the late 20s. The one thing I did find out is it appears that this area is the NE terminus of the Jemez Lineament! There are reports out of New Mexico about water in wells and springs suddenly turning very hot this last week, I am not sure, but it could very well be Magma moving NE along the Lineament?? Will try to find out more about an "event" that happened down there around 1900 something about steam scalding miners in one of the mines Your thoughts??? Scorpio
