It takes an hour, without accidents, to drive home from my dad's on
Sunday nights and, lately, I have been coming home in darkness. I have
to keep reminding myself that this is October and near over at that. It
has had the feel of summer.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT...CORRECTED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
310 AM PDT WED OCT 27 1999

...SNOW LEVELS LOWERING TO PASS LEVELS IN THE SOUTH WASHINGTON
CASCADES TONIGHT AND EARLY THURSDAY...

THE STRONGEST PACIFIC FRONTAL SYSTEM OF THE FALL SEASON IS MOVING
INTO NORTHWEST OREGON AND SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON TODAY...IT WILL
SPREAD COLD AIR INTO THE WASHINGTON CASCADES TONIGHT AND THURSDAY.

RAIN AT PASS LEVELS THIS AFTERNOON WILL CHANGE TO SNOW BY LATE
TONIGHT AS THE SNOW LEVEL LOWERS TO BETWEEN 3500 TO 4000 FEET. SEVERAL
INCHES OF SNOW WILL LIKELY ACCUMULATE BEFORE THE SNOW DECREASES
THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

It has become my custom to thank the Lord for my Sunday and another day
with my dad and to ash what He has planned to the week. I never hear
His voice, but I often get a feeling and somehow I know. Play the radio
and wait for the next bad event. You won't wait long.

So, it has been. Week after week since my mother was snatched from us
without even so much as a meek warning. Part of this feeling must be
the same for those who wake up in the morning and by the end of day a
loved one is taken by accident...

It's only Wednesday and this is only today's news. But you sure
wouldn't know it here. These days have been just great for being
outside and working and feeling alive. In between, that is, the magma,
volcanic and, surely, earthquake symptoms and signs. TL is
loading...many left ear clicks last two days. Volcanoes are ready and
today's activity just the beginning...

So, I turn a great LA radio station on and crank up the Bose. Way up
there. So I don't hear the singing in the left ear and rinning in the
right. I key into the beat and drums and pretend to forget these are,
if not, the end days, the craziest of days, making less and less sense
on the varying levels.

For example, on CNN, they said our national debt is 5 Billion Bucks.
Last I knew, and not that long ago, it was 4.7 Billion. Not to worry,
they, also, said that White House was claiming credit for the largest
and only surplus since 1959. That took me back. I was yet a kid. To
top that, Social Security now has it greatest surplus and both parties
have agreed not to take the surplus for other things, which they have
done many times before.

What? That's the people's sup to retirement. What do you mean they
have taken money from it for other things? What other things? Isn't
that stealing from the people? What do the people have to say about
this? Or, were they allowed to know? But where was I? Tracking SS
through my life and comparing it to my insurance policy which promised
to do better.

Believe this a better bet, but let me comment as we go:

27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the
west; so
shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Okay, I know where to keep looking.

28For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered
together.

Now why is this here? What has that to do with Your return? Oh yeah,
the "eagles" association with none other than the good old U. S. of A.
Who would know the word for eagles really means vultures in Hebrew?
Well, not matter. That seems to fit today. 1999

29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the
moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven,
and the powers
of the heavens shall be shaken:

So, after all the other bad stuff, let me get this straight, let's see,
the sun is to be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and
stars are to fall from the sky? You mean, if I, the unbeliever, makes
it this far, this is what I can expect? Well, I better have lots of
coats on hand and build up on fuel reserves. Could get cold. How long
is the sun to be darkened? How is such a thing possible? What can
darken the sun? I've got it! An eclipse! Okay. But didn't we just
have one? Over Europe? Yup. We did. I remember. But that's past,
so...

The moon? Oh, that's easy. When the whatever blocks the sun, the
light will not be able to light the moon, so she won't be able to give
off her light, which really isn't her's at all, but of the sun.

Gottcha! I'm not worry about the moon. But those stars falling from
the sky? Are they to hit the earth? You don't make that clear. Do
they just pass by? Or do they hit the ground? Could be a big mess if
they do. Could be by then, I'll be calling out your name. I must stand
on this ground and a star could hit anywhere! Yipes!

30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then
shall all the
tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in
the clouds
of heaven with power and great glory.

Well, if this is so, then I am in big trouble. You turned out to be
exactly who you said you were. Opps...
