The Solar Eclipse and Earthquake Connection

Hi Petra:

Thanks for the encouragement. I discovered this linkage between solar eclipses and earthquakes on or about 7 March 2001.

In line with your statement (about having a geo-science degree before they will publish it) I was trying to build the "gap filling" science part prior to any publication (as a way to offset/compensate for not having the geo-science degree by having near bullet proof data and compelling line of argumentation....).

However, I think I will follow the path of the original data collectors (whom were apparently unaware of it's significance to earthquakes) and just state the connection to EQs and point to a theory...while fleshing it out in another publication. In this way, there is less to debate and more likelihood of publishing of the linkage (by some science publication somewhere...).

Nice idea about the e-book. I might look into that as well. Regarding the "Folklore..." title...that is a nice approach. I think though that what I have is up to being under strong scientific scrutiny and so will tend to avoid the use of the word "folklore" as it will no doubt de-incentivise(?) some scientists from reading the material in the first place (sad to say...).

Regarding the EQ lights...yes...the gap filling part of the theory that I am working explains this phenomena...including a spatial distribution of power ref: epicenter. I don't think many persons have undertaken this type of detail in this subject area...though there is at least one paper out there which does address this aspect (but in the context of what I believe is an incomplete explanation...which the author admits to but for which he takes full "intuitive credit" and rightly so IMHO.). This theory I have been working on also offers plausible explainations for numerous other "unexplained" phenomena....(some not related to EQs at all).

Again, thanks for your ideas. Who said science isn't fun ?! :)

p.s. Thanks to Lowell for providing some supporting evidence to be cited....

p.s.s. Since the "cat is (somewhat) out of the bag" I predict that if I do nothing more with this then within 6-8 months a publication will come out addressing this topic...since this happens alot in science ...where others also make the same connection independently...)
