Re: More Trouble For The Japan Nuclear Power Industry - August 20, 2011 |
There are some important issues in the link, but some of what the Hiroshima Peace Institute professor says sounds speculative and one does not even seem logical. The part that does not sound logical is that radiation, pressure, and temperature measurements within the building are dropping because the melted core is moving out of the building. I don't know whether the fuel is melting out of the containment vessel, but it would be unlikely to have gone far, and this woudl not logically cause the various measurements to decrease. I also doubt the M6+ aftershocks have much to do with this. Finally, he states that the meltdown in unit 1 started before the tsunami arrived. If true, this is important. But, where is the evidence? EQF, if you run into more on this, from another source, please link to it. I've had people ask me recently what was the latest on Fukishima, and I had not heard anything (I learn about this from this page, from the news, and cnn.com, not through my work).
