EQF, I was interested enough that I sent a link to your post and to your link to my French brother in law who works on safety and piping and valves in French nuclear plants.
Your post and the second link seem believable.

I'd be interested in what the official Japanese government and TEPCO (?) positions are now as to what happened. There is a limit to how long they can lie or cover up, if that is what they are doing. (I kind of doubt that is what they are doing because that could be criminal, but they were extremely slow to come forward with the true seriousness of the situation back in March and April.
