The Latest Popular Prediction For The World To End – May 21, 2011

If you have been watching the Internet news and probably even the regular TV news you have likely been seeing and hearing reports presently being circulated that predict that there is going to be a major earthquake on May 21, 2011. And it will start a sequence of events that result in the all of the people on the Earth going off to their eternal rewards etc. etc. etc.

The original author of that prediction is reportedly an 89 year old gentleman (I myself would refer to him with any of a number of other words) who is reportedly basing his prediction on something he read in the Holy Bible.

I myself am still waiting for one or two significant earthquakes to occur. They have not so far most likely because the sun and moon have moved out of the ideal position in the sky for generating the types of forces that often trigger powerful earthquakes. This involves the Tide Generating Force and the Solid Earth Tide. Ocean tides might also be associated with the expected earthquake for the northwest part of the U.S.

They will be back !!!

Those sun and moon position related forces will return. And that would probably be some multiple of 7 days after the original signals were detected on May 18, 2011.

The fault zones involved might also simply be in a state where they are slowly getting ready to fracture, something like a car tire that has a “bubble” on is that is getting ready to burst resulting in a flat tire. And in this case one or both of the earthquakes could still occur perhaps within the next three days. That would be the end of my second time window. The first ended about 12 hours after the signals were detected on May 18.

However,

Regardless of how powerful either of those earthquakes is (as high as 8 for central Asia areas and 7 for the northwest part of the U.S.), they are not expected to cause the world to come to an end.

And so I am going to make another prediction of a “nonevent.”

The World Will Not Come To An End On May 21, 2011

If it turns out that I am wrong with that nonevent prediction then let me express my regrets regarding that right now. Because if and when the world does comes to an end it will obviously be too late to say anything (humor intended).

So,

Why do so many supposedly intelligent people believe in these predictions that are constantly being made stating that the world is coming to an end?

One reason is that the predictions have a certain amount of entertainment value. People get bored with their normal activities. And those predictions shake things up a bit for a while until the predictions fall flat on their faces.

Another reason is that many, many people don’t trust the scientists and government officials etc. who are try to debunk the predictions.

They remember how medical personnel, scientists, and government officials etc. told them for decades and perhaps hundreds of years that there was no proof that cigarette smoking can have severe health consequences.

And in my opinion, many people also recognize the fact that scientists and government officials are presently determined to get them to believe two other popular myths:

1. Earthquakes can’t be predicted – An extremely dangerous myth!

2. Only earthquake forecasts that list exact time windows, locations, and magnitudes are of any value – A popular but absolutely ridiculous myth!

That second deadly myth is the easier of the two to dispel.

If you ask any disaster response groups, they will tell you that if you can simply let them know about when they need to respond to a major earthquake then that by itself would be invaluable information. They don’t need to know anything about the magnitude or even the location. This is because it can take them hours or even days to get their gear packed and ready for the response. And if they have been forewarned then they will be ready to go when the expected earthquake occurs. They can just board the appropriate airplane headed for the earthquake location.

Saved disaster response days, hours, or even minutes can result in saved lives.

Before colleges and universities award degrees in science to their students they should attempt to teach them that they need to act in a responsible manner when it comes to circulating important science information. But that second popular myth demonstrates that that is not happening.

Many self-proclaimed earthquake forecasting “experts” keep insisting that any earthquake forecast MUST have time window, location, and magnitude information. And in doing that they are completely ignoring the importance of time window information by itself to disaster response groups.

And, like those “End of the world” and cigarette smoking safety “experts,” later when those earthquake forecasting “experts” are proven wrong, you can be certain that they will have some logical excuse ready to justify their earlier irresponsible and often dangerous and life threatening statements.

These are personal opinions.
