Sorry for the double post; let's use this thread.
Besides the obvious humanitarian reasons, a fast and competent disaster response from the U.S in Haiti will be a good drill for disasters in the U.S. Let's see how they do. I suspect the response will be better for Haiti than it was for New Orleans.
