at Southern California Earthquake Center annual meeting |
I'm at the Southern California Earthquake Center annual meeting in Palm Springs. The abstract volume is on-line and is linked below. Mine is "TAMAM Scientific Party" on page 133 (poster 1-121). It is on North Anatolian fault, but I went ahead and put a mini-poster of Los Angeles stuff down the side. The poster was a bit of an expensive adventure. I was processing data until about a week or 10 days ago and only then restarted interpretation. I was also working on a draft AGU abstract that I did not send out to co-authors until Saturday morning (2 days ago). Friday morning I though a co-author and I had come up with a smart model, and then a couple hours later I looked at more data and realized the model did not work...so came up with another model. But, you cannot plot a poster in Palm Springs. I had to upload the 144 Mbyte .pdf to an FTP site, and then FedexKinkos Palm Desert downloaded it, plotted it after a few hours, I took a taxi RT to Palm Desert, and got my poster up at 8:30 last night for the 8:00-10:30 poster session. Expensive but worth it in this case. This is the first time I have not had the poster plotted ahead of time. You can do it for "free" or a few $ in the departments, but the heartland plotter needs .tiff and I also was not ready.
