John, I think I know what side you are on this from your other posts on this thread, but your post right above is very ambiguous. I could go on and on about benefits of combatting global warming (ocean currents, sudden climate change (meaning huge changes in one or 2 decades, Greenland Ice Sheet, maybe west Antarctic Ice sheet, shifts of climate belts).
Also, you only need to look to yesterday at the cost to the USA economy of uncontrolled use of imported oil. And, I know a fair amount about USA oil supply: production peaked in, I think, 1970.
It was Governator Arnold who told Sean Hannity "What the harm?" about a year ago...even if climate change is a cruel hoax put on by people like me, what's the harm in coming up with alternatives to burning oil, and to conserving.

As for sudden climate change: that is a real bogeyman for the deniers. I work with some of the key people who came up with the evidence for sudden climate change and just about 3 days ago saw one of them present the record of huge changes in a couple decades: huge warmings. The earth can switch from state A to state B....
I don't know how likely that would be this century, and that would be an interesting topic of conversation here, but it seems real real clear that it has happened in the past.
Chris
