Anything between about 1.5 and 4.5 S is an aftershock of the recent M8.4 and 7.9, and a M5.4 in that area these days would be common. As for north of the equator, there have been a number of M5s to low 6s the lest week or 2 so to predict that they will continue for a while is not rocket science. On the other hand, the occurence of these quakes a couple weeks after the M8.4 and 7.9 is kind of interesting...distant and delayed triggering? Or, a coincidence?
