tornadic storm headed this way |
Well, this is my first real severe weather outbreak since I moved to the heartland...only a flash flood watch in my county, but a tornado watch 1 county to the west. A large tornado was observed destroying a house in eastermost Kansas, and that supercell storm has moved into Missouri and is about 60 miles west or so, headed more or less this way at 40 mph. I'm being over cautious, but almost every house within 2 km of where I am had their shingles replaced due to hail damage last March 12, when Heartland wife was here for her interview (and ended up waiting out tornado warnings for 90 minutes in a Target store). So, I just moved enough boxes out of the garage so I could put our older car in there along with the newer one: the older one does not have comprehensive insurance, so I would feel pretty dumb if it was damaged. We have a weather radio with the alert feature, which no doubt will repeatedly wake me up for watched and warnings that are not worth getting up for...better that you could set it to only go off for a tornado warning for this county and the one just west...
