Tornado legends

Chris-

There are a lot of legends and myth regarding tornado formation and "safe areas". The latest batch of baloney I heard was that they won't hit the Ozarks of Ark. and Mo. because of the terrain.

Waco, TX was supposed to be safe from tornadoes- the source was an native american legend that the settlers took to heart. In 1953 (correct me if I'm wrong on the year) Waco got slammed with a killer tornado that rated F-4 or F-5 on the Fujita scale.

Mary, who moved to CA because of too many late night close calls in the Heartland.
