nothing happened

Well, I slept well enough although the weather radio woke me 3 times with alarms (I'll figure out later if I can limit it as Jane suggested). Nothing happened, except for some thunderstorms. Power was out in part of the city, and I went into the University and there was no power for an hour...it just came back in: somewhat strong non-thunderstorm winds, I guess. I get to put all the boxes back into garage this evening but that only took 15 minutes to move into house...They have tornado watches and even some warnings in the northeast where I am from, but it is highly unlikely to have a large, long-track storm there (although it has happened in PA, upstate NY, Worcester Mass). I was told that Columbia MO is missed by tornados, but I don't believe it...there was one in 1990 that destroyed/damaged 10 houses, and there have been quite a few in the last year in SE MO...I don't see why they would be more prone there than here. On the other hand, there may be a tendency for tornados to form near the Kansas-MO border (like yesterday) and then the storms weaken before they get this far east...like yesterday. And, we are not in tornado alley, so would be much less at risk here than there.
Chris
