Hi All. There is a lot of truth in what Petra says.

For a long time I didn’t believe, or understand this tone she would hear. I would keep telling her I had a ringing in my ears all the time. It was caused by to many gunshots, to many explosions, to many jet aircraft. That didn’t stop her. She kept on telling me. Then one day I listened to what she was telling me instead of just hearing what she was telling me.

The tone she heard Wednesday morning was unlike any other she has heard. All she knew was that it was coming from the north. Other then that there was nothing else. I still logged it.

This log has a lot of information in it. When ever possible I try to match some data to what she tells me. Most of the time I can’t. She may only hear some tones two or three times a year. I can understand why she doesn’t, or can’t give me much in the way of her feelings on what she hears.

There is however one tone she has been picking up quite regularly. It is a pure sound, something like the sound you would get from a bell, but not a bell sound. She has come to identify this as being granite. For the most part they are short, but now and then there are some long ones. So far there hasn’t been anything to put with the tones except for a quake or two in the Sierras. Most of these have been in the area of Markleeville.

She has some good hits, but she also has some misses. We have learned from each. In some ways we have learned more from the misses then we have from the hits.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that were not concerned with the number or hits or the number of misses, or how many times she’s right, or how many times she’s wrong and when I use the data it’s the same way. We look at each one to try and find the WHY.

This thing about scoring. It sounds like a game or something. If you have something that works part of the time, great. What you need to do is find out why it didn’t the other part of the time.

Before closing I have a question I would like an answer to. How many think the Bolinas quake was a foreshock to a much larger quake, and how many think if was an aftershock of the 1906 quake? Give it some thought. Take Care…Don “the hard head” in creepy town.
