Bay Area Creep, Again

Hi All. Things are getting interesting. There has been a rapid acceleration in creep at the CHP2 data point. This data is located about 5 miles SE of the 3.5Ml on 2001/02/01 and appears to have started very early on 2001/02/04.

Not sure if the data I’m seeing is related to the series of quakes in the area of San Leandro, but it would appear that it is. I don’t see how it could be related to the 4.0Ml near Alder Springs as the distance is much to great for a quake of that magnitude to affect the data for the Bay Area. If it is related then the North Bay Area could be in for a much larger quake.

Just how much larger I would only be speculating, but I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.5Ml+. If the acceleration is related to the San Leandro area then the there may still be another quake on the way, but not nearly as large. At least I don’t think so, also hope not.

If USGS doesn’t make any corrections in the next 36 hours I would have to say that the data is good, or they are taking a wait and see approach. Take Care…Don in creepy town.
