Theory in question

Dear Don, reading your post where you are trying to make an association between the Nevada event and the M=8 P.N.G main shock thousands of kilometers away in the Pacific Ocean. I quote you : ":... It should be noted that both quakes occurred after the P.N.G. 8.0Ms and the 7.7Ms quakes. This is not to say that both quakes were triggered by the P.N.G. quakes, but there does seem to be a connection between them. "
My question : Why must there be a connection ? Must there always be a connection ? scientific literature on migration of activity exists about events in the same plate boundary or nearby faults however migration of global seismic activity is impossible to correlate, just download Alan Jones's SeisVol program from his web site (an excellent tool for observing the spatial and temporal global seismicity patterns) and watch what happens on a global scale . Very random and nonrepetetive patterns are observed.
You also ponder which of the elastic waves emitted from the seismogenetic volume of the M=8 main shock could have triggered the Nevada event and you mention:
"....As to which wave triggered the quakes it would largely depended on the amount of accumulated stress at the location of the quake and how the waves passed through that area."
My question : Is the displacement of the elastic waves from the M=8 P.N.G event when they reach Nevada large (attenuation with distance considered) enough to create
displacement on the Nevada fault ?
I Know that it is not but if you have other calculations let me know and i will reevaluate your hypothesis.
Best Wishes from Greece

and further on :"....As to which wave triggered the quakes it would largely depended
on the amount of accumulated stress at the location of the quake and how the waves
passed through that area. "
