Hello Jane,

This (1957) is the most energetic period I could find so far. I will keep digging. This does not include Prince William Sound 9+ quake near Anchorage in 1964. The current energy release now is miniscule compared to 1957 or 1964. The 1957 quakes I have listed were aftershocks to a 9.1 mag. There current swarm is the largest foreshock (if that is what this is) swarm I have found. The best data is from 1973 forward. The lack of good data before 1973 is frustrating, but a fact we have to live with. Maybe somebody else has more.
