Marin Headlands Return Visit

Hi All,

I was hot on the trail in earthquake country today and made a return visit to the Marin Headlands. I revisted the area where you could see where the fault had uplifted into a vertical wall. This is comprised primarily of sedimentary rock, in shades of chocolate brown with a beautiful blue cast. I collected a number of medium sized samples for my garden.

Further down the road, just off of the picnic area, more sedimentary rock was in evidence along with an usual find of a cinnabar rock mixed with granite. This nearly red small stone, may not be native to this area, but it was my first true red rock I've collected so far.

Though it was foggy at the coast, it wasn't the least bit cold and made an excellent day for a picnic. Many surfers were out hanging ten in the water, while I was mirroring them on the slopes.

I enjoyed this trip a little more than my previous one as I had more time to research the area and obtain further samples.
