California And The West Coast Could Be Worse Then Katrina |
Hi All. It seems that California and maybe the whole West Coast could be hurting more then the Katrina fiasco. Take Care…Don in creepy town WASHINGTON (AP) -- As many as 18,000 people dead. More than $250 billion in damages. Hundreds of thousands of people left homeless. That's not the latest estimate of Hurricane Katrina's toll on the Gulf Coast. That's a worst-case scenario if a major earthquake were to hit Los Angeles. California has been hit by significant quakes about every 15 years over the past century. Experts say there's a better-than 60 percent chance that a quake with a magnitude around 6.7 will hit Southern California or the San Francisco Bay Area within decades. http://www.officer.com/article/article.jsp?siteSection=15&id=25911 Follow Ups: ● Re: California And The West Coast Could Be Worse Then Katrina - diane 21:13:26 - 9/15/2005 (28301) (2) ● preparedness (kinda long) - Mary Antonelli 20:36:20 - 9/19/2005 (28411) (0) ● Re: California And The West Coast Could Be Worse Then Katrina - Petra 21:54:55 - 9/15/2005 (28302) (1) ● Ingorance Not Denial - diane 22:37:58 - 9/15/2005 (28305) (0) |
