Hi Roger. Who said anything about evacuation? To tell the truth I really and truly believe you could issue a major quake prediction tomorrow and no one is going to blink. The people have heard the “next 30 years” one to many times. You don’t need an M=7.9. An M=6.0 in the right place will do just as well and they are more likely to occur.

Advisories can be issued much in the same fashion they do for tornadoes and sever storms. Sometimes tornadoes will occur and sometimes they won’t. That still doesn’t keep them from issuing an advisory. To wait until you have the perfect prediction program doesn’t sound very smart to me. While you’re trying to get it people are still be killed by earthquakes, or did you forget that? Just as there are no perfect weather prediction programs there will be no perfect earthquake prediction program. Take Care…Don in creepy town
