That wasn't my point. We don't need perfection but we do need usable.

For example, if you can get location and mag correct but not date that's useless. "la, mag 7 someday"? Sure.

Location and date but not mag is similarly useless. "LA next week, 2.0-9.9" Yes but what protection level do we need?

Useable isn't "LA, 6 days from now, mag 7.2", it's "LA (within 10 miles), within a week of the 27th of July, mag 6.0-6.5"
