GPS Reading Question - John and Chris |
Here's the link the GPS station (Northbay) which sits along the Rodgers Creek Fault covering the time period from 1999 to 2003. I want to confirm that I am reading the graph correctly. Is it saying that the area being monitored is moving at 23mm a year north? If so, how does that compare generally to other larger faults like segments of the SAF for instance? Though this data only goes to 2003 I think it would be safe to say that whatever happened after that time has not diminished the experts opinions that it is ready to go. Did either of you notice to two micro-quakes in the middle of San Francisco Bay today. This is the exact spot which concerns local seismologists and where they think its possible to have a 7.4 and suggest it would probably trigger both the Rodgers Creek and Hayward Faults.
