The problem is that we only see one side of the story.

I'd be willing to bet that airlines receive many calls about disasters but we only hear about the ones that crash.

Same with quakes. Look at all the predictions on Syzygy and how few aew correct.

Now if someone has an established record of success far beyond chance, that's another matter.
