Re: M6.4+ SOCAL next 5 months |
Hi Cathryn, It was the one off of LA. I found a terrific book about ghostly activity there, which seems rather abundant despite the size of the population and found an odd earthquake story included. It seems one night two men were sitting in a home just talking, when one of them drifted off into a trance. He said he got a warning that something "big" was going to happen. Later that evening the house shook like crazy and then spent the rest of the night outside. The following morning they were telling another person they knew about this odd incident and he told them, "that was an earthquake." Unfortunately, the story was not dated and I'm wondering if it was from the 1933 Long Beach quake. The book includes contact information for the authors so I think I'll follow up with them and see if they can provide a date for me. Catalina Island was once inhabited by Indians and they had many sacred cemetaries which were later pillaged by some of the early residents and they even went so far as to sell off the burial artifacts to art galleries around the US. Over all the history of the residents of the island is really fascinating and apparently steeped with deep emotions. I know both of us grew up on the shores of Southern California and to hear the sound of the sea and being rocked to bed at night by the swaying of the ship is a wonderful experience. Gosh I missed the smell of the ocean. Petra
