Chris

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I am a layperson in seismology, and don't claim an indepth knowledge in this area--BUT

A few months ago someone on one of these boards mentioned that electrons in the air do change with quakes. Not understanding the relationship, I recently have undertaken to notice from available data whether there was a relationship. I obviously am looking for handles to predict quakes that have some solidity. The graphs available are at the URL given, and most have a line through the middle, horizontally. Thus I undertook to see if that line has any meaning.

If this week is any indication, they do, and it was a surprise to see that one set of lines was repeated in another graph, right below the first.

My sense is that it is first my duty to document any relationship, which I have started doing. Then to extrapolate and try to find a usefulness is the next.

The proton phenomenon mentioned is actually quite visible on the satellite pictures given at www.spaceweather.com . The proton flux has been quiet this weel.

The electron phenomenon mentioned may apply, since the electron flux has been high. I think the concern is what is happening in the satellite, possibly as a sensor is exhausted. It may be the first dip was related, but I would seriously wonder about the later ones.

At any rate, I am not making any claims, just presenting data that seem to correlate in a great opportunity for observation.

Your comments are right on target. Thanks.
Donald
