electron flux

Donald, I think that before you "document any relationship" between earthquakes and electron flux you should first find out what is being measured on those graphs, which neither you nor I know. Also-you say that the electron flux has been high. There is an archive of the graphics for the electorn flux for the month/year etc. I think you will find that the levels may be typical for times when the sun is not very active-I looked through a few of these, but not a lot. Also-this is being measured at satellite-not ground. The Kp is measured at ground in several places in North America. I may have a slight bias to thinking that Kp storms might have a relationship with earthquakes, partly because a well-known seismologist had a physical reason why this should be (I should email this person and see whether it is OK to post the relation), but work by Roger has not shown a significant relation with larger quakes. You are going into this looking for a relation with some solar parameter, but there may not be any. Because almost all research scientists would be doubtful that there is a relation, it is your/our burden to first show that there is one, and you are not approaching this in any way that will end up doing this. The sun is pretty quiet, not much happened when it was exceptionally active, so trying to make a correlation when nothing much is going on is too much of a stretch for me.

What might be more interesting is to look for relations between the flare up of M6 earthquakes we have had the last few days-is this just related to the statistics of small numbers, are are they triggering each other, or is some influence triggering them independently? I think something is going on, but I don't know what. Canie-should a series of FFA maps be posted (even though Roger has not shown much correlation with FFAs except maybe at 102-103 deg...)
Chris
