As for the claim that no has previously taken into account the positions of the Sun and Moon in tidal studies, uh, that is not quite right.

Finally, the great distance of the other planets precludes any significant influence whatsoever on stress in the Earth (reading ahead to your later posts).

By the way, my co-author's tidal calculations assume a PREM Earth structure (Google it, if it doesn't sound familiar), which has P, S, and density structure to within a per cent or so throughout the Earth, so it has the liquid outer core and solid inner core, not that it matters.
