Say What? |
Hi EQF, Did you know that citrus fruit and avocados grow in the same places, but sometimes citrus grows where avocado's don't. Its odd, but its real. You cannot compare apples and oranges in earthquake prediction because no two faults are the same. They may have their similarities, but no perfect match. The Earth is very good about not making duplicates of anything. However, you said, "However, if there is actually someone out there who can provide us all with a clear and believable warning regarding when that next truly catastrophic earthquake is going to occur here in the U.S. then please let me and everyone else know that. There are many other things that I and many other researchers around the world would probably rather be doing with our time than trying to advance the science of forecasting earthquakes." This is an interesting statement because you've already said that your program(s) already have the answer, so its up to you and not "them" to deliver the forecast. So why don't you? Maybe you've got a signal that is from 3 months ago that might be useful now, if you don't have any new one's? Anyway, you puzzle me greatly with your line of interests. While I know you have sent out earthquake warnings for moderate quakes in distant countries, which certainly can be devastating, frequently of late you seem to be upgrading to large quakes. So which one of them is your program(s) capable of forecasting? We already know there is no "they" that are unaccounted for, "out there" because if "they" who might be unaccounted for knew the answer, these others would be doing their thing and getting rich in the process. If you are really looking for someone to connect with you, why not try sending a mass e-mail to all of the geophysical assocations, scientists et cetera who might share your interest and give them your link and see if you get any takers. At least your circulation would be better than right here. It never hurts to broaden your horizons. Petra
