Kp index=red (geomagnetic) |
The magnetic storminess is acting up-there have not been any flares above "C" class, but the Kp index is now in the "red" zone. I've forgotten what Kp is, but I think it is magnetic field....There used to be lots of discussion of the relation of this to earthquakes, but a relation was only stated, not demonstrated, on this page. Since the Kp has been pretty quiet for a long time, if there is any triggering, strain/stress buildup should have brought more susceptible faults closer to failure...
