Sunday Bible School - "Silent" Pole Shift ?
Posted by 2cents on May 05, 2002 at 20:38:17:

Well ...being as it is Sunday I thought I would open the Bible and read a little here and there...(entertaining ideas of a sort of "fire insurance" as it were).

NOw I know what you may be thinking. OMG this is Off Topic...what is he posting ? Settle down 'cause it just may be On Topic after all.

Check out Joshua 10: 12-14 (Destruction of the Amorite coalition, etc.).

Joshua spoke thusly: "O sun stand still at Gibeon, And O moon in the valley of Aijalon."

"So the sun stood still and the moon stopped Until the nation avenged themselves of their enemies."

"Is it not written in the book of Jashar? And the sun stopped in the middle of the sky, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day."
---------------------------------------------

Supposing this to be an accurate account of what happened then a few thoughts emerge:

1) A possible earth pole shift event occurred where the surface of the earth rotated at the same speed as the sun's speed across the sky but in the opposite direction.

2) If one could affix the exact date of the event the exact pole shift trajectory could be calculated based on the moon's position (since it also apparently "stopped" (retrograde re: Israel ground location). Anybody have any idea about when this happened ?

3) Since the soldiers could continue to kill their enemies the ground vibrations must have been insignificant in this location. This suggests that if a pole shift were to occur it may not be a catastrophic event all over the world...it may be something like noticing that the sun remains in the same location in the sky for a period of time.

4) A pole shift can last for 24 hours without causing any noticeable ground shaking (apparently).

5) Due to the conservation of angular momentum and other factors...this suggests that the crust/mantle of the earth is in fact loosely coupled to the inner core ...thereby allowing it to "slip" easily relative to the rotation of the inner core.... This suggests that perhaps the mantle to inner core boundary maybe of a gaseous nature (i.e. low friction). IOWs, the earth has a "hollow chamber" down at the mnatle to inner core boundary.

Just something to think about...food for thought, that kind of thing.

Well...that's today's Bible Lesson...(whoops wrong website! :)

Just my $.02 worth
