Contests And The Long Wait

Hi All,

Sometimes delays cause a lack of enthusiasm and in these earthquake contests, they are really, really loosing it. You see, I'm a sales person, one who lives with instant gratification and if it takes two weeks to get a determination on a hit for a little bitty earthquake, then by golly it gets less interesting all the time.

So, what can be done about this? It looks like possibly it should be narrowed down to CA only as it seems to be the only place that has instant results in reports. Do we have to wait for quakes to be registered in a catalog? After all, its only a little contest on the board anyway.

We have to put a little realism on these types of events. These are not the kinds of earthquake predictions that anyone is using for a personal record, it is only a little contest. Can't we just have it among friends?

Though some will and won't agree with me on this one, I do think a awful lot of work is associated with this for Roger when its not the "big kahuna" anyway. How do you feel about this Roger? Are you getting tired of running one search after the next for these minor contests?

I vote for short time periods, use of daily reports and a whole lot more fun for the participants.

Petra
