Precise forecast on record

Congratulations Shan,
You may be interested to note that we maintain an earthquake forecast archive here.
The following (edited) forecast was sent to us on May 23, 2001 regarding the possibility
of an earthquake in Hindu Kush by a European researcher.

RE: Hindu Kush Earthquake
Received: May 23, 2001

"The evolving cycle started in July 29, 1985 after the largest afteshock
of the earthquake from December 30, 1983 (Ms=7.2). We may find the
analysis below:

[Analysis is deleted, but on record in our file]

From this analysis results that the cycle will be ended after 203 - 205
months since its start ( March - May 2002), by an earthquake of
magnitude Ms = 7.7."

This researcher also had a number of correct hits last year, some of which
were noted on this board. It is a good forecast because it states a large
quake is likely in the Hindu Kush region beginning in March 2002 and giving
a fairly limited time period in which this event is likely to take place.
Earthquakes of Mb>=5 occur often in the region and correct forecasts for
such events are not very noteworthy, however correct.
