Tidal Forces According to NASA

According to a study reported by NASA, somewhere between 3 to 4 trillion watts of energy are dissipated daily by tidal movements. About 1 trillion watts are dissipated in the deep ocean, the rest is dissipated in shallow seas, such as the continental shelf off the southeast coast of South America.

Now multiply 3 trillion watts times the number of days in a year and multiply that by the age in years of the Pacific Ocean, and tell me that tidal energy is not transfering substantial amounts of energy into tectonic plate movement.

And while you're checking out the above link, notice the counterclockwise movement of the daily tides in the animated tide graphic. This tidal flow matches the movement of the various parts of the Pacific plates exactly. Unfortunately, your model of convecting magma doesn't show a clockwise rotation and therefore cannot be the prime mover of the Pacific Plate. What do you say to that Mr. Seismologist?

The science is already done. All you need to do is open your eyes.

Dave
