California rather quiet

The SCEC page shows California rather quiet in the last couple of days-just a few at Coso, Long Valley, and north of the Bay area (is that Geysers?). California has had even quieter periods over the last couple of months, but this is the least activity shown on the SCEC page in a couple of weeks. It might be interesting to see which areas become active first as California inevitably becomes more active.

I have some intentions of pushing people on this page in the direction of publication. I've been watching this page for only about 3 weeks. So far, I see the FFA (Lowell's Far Field Aftershocks) as most publishable right now. But, a paper would have to be pretty much limited to this-alarm bells would go off in the reviewers/editor if some of the other stuff was brought in. I don't think there is a conspiracy to prevent funding and publication on earthquake prediction, but the barrier is a little higher here, because of some history...
There are people (I would have to dig up the names..) who are being funded by SCEC and have published on the M8 prediction algorithm. I've written a lot of unsuccessful proposals and a few successful ones (neither group on prediction), and I have a good feel for what is fundable and publishable, and what is not. If I get comments on this I'll add to it. Canie-I did repond later to the Santa Cruz Island post. Chris
