After the Nisqually quake in February there were things thrown around inside the house that got broken, but more importantly there were a few small cracks in the foundation that went all the way through. We had an engineer come out and check everything out and give recommendations, etc. The cracks were sealed, bolts were tightened, the deck was repaired and some things are different and will remain that way. Yesterday we had the most rain that we have had at one time since the earthquake. One of the cracks in the garage that goes through the foundation leaked a fair amount of water. It had been sealed but obviously needs more work. The scary thing is that moisture appears to actually be wicking up THROUGH the concrete in the garage. Not alot, but the fact that it appears to be happening at all is alarming. This house was built in 1999 and we have had major rain before and have never had this happen. We simply hadn't had rain this serious since the earthquake. I don't know if it's something that is going to present a major problem or not and the scenarios that I imagine for fixing something like this are much less than appealing to me. Has anyone here had a similar experience or know what could have caused something like this to occur? I did take some pictures last night when I noticed it to show an engineer in the event that it's gone by the time I can get one out here. Anyway, I know that the people that frequent this board have suffered earthquake damage of varying degrees, so I thought I would check here for ideas.
