Re: New LA Swarm-Another question

Anything over 2 earthquakes in a day in the LA Area is considered to be a swarm down here!!

We know they aren't volcanic. Is there a true definition of just what constitutes a swarm? I do think I found a definition:
Earthquake swarms are generally defined as a sequence of events closely clustered in time and space without a single outstanding shock (Mogi, 1963).

All I know is the friends I have around here are getting mighty nervous with all these - the quakes may look small but they are making themselves FELT! I guess you could consider the 4.2 a mainshock and the rest aftershocks (that is how its being reported anyway) but in my book a 4.2 is probably just another foreshock and we haven't seen the mainshock yet...
