Though I will undoubtedly regret this, by coincidence a Newsgroup discussion got around to the Etgtab Solid Earth Tide computer program we tried to translate from FORTRAN 77 a while back. And since the discussions seemed relatively peaceful for a change I took the bold step of asking if there were any FORTRAN programmers who would be interested in helping translate Etgtab to a newer language. It could then be merged with SunGP.

If at least some Newsgroup people don't get upset by that request then perhaps we should all be concerned that it might be a sign that "The end is near!" (humor intended)
