Re: Etgtab Program - November 14, 2013 |
Hi Roger, We are talking about different subjects. You already translated much of the Etgtab FORTRAN code into True BASIC. But you ran into problems with some of the code and the effort stopped. What the FORTRAN people and others are saying is that the code is still understandable. So finishing the effort to translate the entire program into TB looks possible. SunGP is already written in TB. And the objective here would be to merge the TB version of Etgtab with the SunGP program. Then there would be a single program for researchers around the world to use that could generate sun and moon location, ocean tide, and Solid Earth Tide data for any time interval. XBasic looks like it would work better than TB. And FORTRAN would probably work better than XBasic. Even better than that might be a program called Julia that I had not heard about in the past. It sounds like it is a supercharged version of FORTRAN, really fast and specifically designed for scientific applications. But, the programmer gets to choose the language. And if you want to continue working with TB then that is fine with me. The object here is to have these programs available in some type of relatively modern code so that other people can use them and work with them. Using the exe version of Etgtab is not a good idea if a newer version can be generated. Follow Ups: ● Re: Etgtab Program - November 14, 2013 - Roger Hunter 21:40:16 - 11/15/2013 (101372) (0) |
