Well, Petra here's my opinion.
The press has been pretty busy with other matters in the last week. An interesting
case of their neglect of local hazard occurred in the Sarasota/Tampa area when
Tropical Storm Gabrielle hit yesterday, drenching the area with up to 3 inches of
rain per hour. The newspaper account said:

"In a week when news coverage was dominated by terrorists attacks, the
storm sneaked up on Floridians.
I didn't have much time to prepare" said Pam Hembree, who was securing
her three charter boats ....."

On the other hand, the storm had been building in the Gulf for the past 5 days.
I know because I have been following it's path all that time. I lived in Sarasota
this past winter, and know how a sudden storm can be disabling to that
seacoast community.

So, a lot of the damage that would not have occurred in ordinary days, can be
attributed to the terrorist attacks and the media concentration on them.

I suspect the same is true in the northwest.

Nevertheless, a notice would be useful. A Mb 6.0 would not normally cause
a tsunami, but in a swarm like this a larger, tsunamigenic earthquake is possible.
If I were a resident of a coastal community, I would like to know that the potential
for a local tsunami had increased and should I hear the sirens, it was at least
as possible that a tsunami was coming as that a terrorist had hit Bill Gates
Seattle mansion.
