I opened up my Bible this morning and began reading the story of Cain & Abel.

It says that God put a mark on Cain so that no one would kill him, least there would be revenge of seven deaths, and so on and so on..... However, I remember back along time ago I was watching A & E or Great Bible Mysteries on TV and I remember something to the effect that this Biblical Archaeologist had spent much time researching this story and Cain's tribe,etc.
He said that the "mark" that God put on Cain so that people would leave him alone was that he made his skin very,very dark, much like that of the earth for which he would never be able to grow or plant again and things would not grow because Abel's blood was spilt on the earth.

The reason for this archaeologists theory was that he had traced the lineage of Cain's tribe of people to that of Africa later on in time,etc...

Somewhere in my boxes of "stuff" that I keep in books I read I also had cut out the theory that was in a newspaper article. But...geez....I don't know where it is at this point in time!

This was just one theory followed by anthropology and archaeology.
