This is my first time going thru a large event with Saturday mornings M7.1 with my current methodology (the previous largest was the M5.8 Ridgecrest event back in Jan 1996). I've always wondered what my signals would look like for an event of this size, but since I didn't have the experience I didn't know. With past M5's I've been pretty close to being maxed out with my signals so I had no way of telling what would happen for a larger event. Roger, remember our discussion on this?

Now that I've been thru a large event with this methodology the M7.1 may have helped. I'll need to see it a few more times before I can be absolutely sure though. Usually these signals will come in a double band with the width of each band being my barometer for the magnitude. The duration of the signal is what I would use to determine whether or not the quake is local or in some other part of the world. This time around I did'nt get any signals for this size of an event. At least nothing that I am use to.

What did happen was that instead of getting normal bands I was getting just the edges which I thought were a pair of two's since the band wasn't filled in. This particular pattern continued for two days. So in the future I'll have to watch for this kind of thing and see what happens.
