Generally after a large quake like the New Zealand one, I check the Alaska and West Coast Tsunami warning center and the Pacific and Hawaii Tsunami warning centers. I don't understand why (especially in the case of large Pacific quakes) there is never any acknowledgement that a large quake occurred. When I went to the Pacific site they had a dummy test message posted. You would think there would be some mention of it, even if just to warn of possible sea level fluctuations. What gives?
