Re: Bay Area Next Major Quake |
Ahhh - A new form of 'not' prediction eh? I concur. I also agree wholeheartedly with Lowell on this matter. I was browsing a USGS site the other day that has to do with seismic hazards and you could look up by zip code the quake probabilities - i found it rather interesting when comparing different areas. I don't think I want to move towards the Pasadena area any time soon - it seemed to have a higher rate than other areas I looked at. I found the link I used and have posted it below. As a whole we are at 85% in the next 30 years of a 7 or better in Southern California. - it seems to me that I've heard this for a while myself - i wonder if Hector and Landers made a difference in this number? Or if they even count? Here's another good reference from USGS for seismic hazards: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/hazards/probability.html Canie Follow Ups: ● Re: Bay Area Next Major Quake - Petra Challus 17:49:31 - 8/14/2001 (8875) (2) ● Re: Bay Area Next Major Quake - Canie 21:18:09 - 8/14/2001 (8882) (0) ● Re: Bay Area Next Major Quake - Don In Hollister 21:03:03 - 8/14/2001 (8880) (0) |
